About the Proud2Play Coaching Academy.
Coaches play a pivotal role in the delivery of community sports and social programs. The Proud2Play Coaching Academy aims to increase the number of LGBTIQ+ coaches involved in sports and community programs to help reduce barriers to participation and increase skill development opportunities for the communities.
All courses are entry-level and aimed at providing participants with the skills and confidence to deliver social programs and beginner sessions at community clubs. Courses include Ultimate, Lacrosse, Netball, Tennis, and Football (soccer). All sports involved in this program are members of our Rainbow Sports Alliance and are actively taking steps to make their sports safe and inclusive for members of the LGBTIQ+ communities.

We can offer scholarships for additional courses to individuals who are interested in pursuing further qualifications. These will be offered on a case-by-case basis.

How many courses do I need to complete the program?
Participants need to attend 5 courses to complete the program.
Do I need previous experience in coaching?
No previous experience is necessary.
Where are the courses held?
All courses will be held at various locations in Melbourne. (We are working on opportunities in other states and rural and regional locations)
How long is each course?
Courses vary in length from 2 hours to half day and full day sessions.
When dates will the courses be on?
The first courses will be Lacrosse on 18th March 2023 and Ultimate on 25th March 2023. Other course dates will be announced in January.
How much does the course cost?
All courses are free of charged and covered by our partnership with Nike.
How old do I have to be to participate in the Proud 2 Play Coaching Academy?
Participants have to be aged 16 and over.
